KANSAS CITY - The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its postseason awards and All-MIAA teams for the 2024-25 women's basketball season Tuesday, with University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball having a pair of honorees.
Guard Anna Trusty was a major award winner, taking home the MIAA Freshman of the Year award while also being named to the All-MIAA Third Team. Guard Morgan Browning was named All-MIAA Honorable Mention.
Trusty was the only first-year student-athlete to rank in the league's top 10 in multiple categories. The 6-0 freshman guard from Greenwood, Ark., led the MIAA newcomers this season with 14.5 points per game while shooting .448 (137-of-306) from the floor. Trusty also added 5.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while helping the Lions advance to the MIAA championship in their first year in the league.
Trusty tallied six double-doubles on the season and six 20-point games. She scored a season-high of 27 points twice and shot 38.1 percent from three and 87.3 percent from the free throw line.
Browning was second on the Lions at 14.0 points per game, scoring in double figures in 24 of 28 games. She scored a season-high 22 points twice and shot 76.5 percent from the foul line while making the second most free throws in the league at 114. Browning also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists this season, posting nine games with three or more assists.
The Lions will next compete in the MIAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed, taking on No. 3 seed Missouri Western at 8:15 p.m. Friday at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
