TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Baseball snapped a seven-game losing streak Tuesday with a 12-2 run-rule win at Northeastern State.
The Lions scored three runs in three separate innings, getting home runs from outfielder JJ Young and Cooper White.
Young hit a two-run homer in the top of the second to put the Lions up 3-0, and the Lions led 4-0 after an RBI groundout by infielder Jordon Helm.
After the RiverHawks recorded single tallies in the second and third, the Lions pounced for three more runs in the fourth, with two runs coming on a single by catcher Nico Patrick.
Young and White each had RBI singles in the fifth as the Lions extended the lead to 10-2, with White then delivering a solo shot in the seventh for an 11-2 advantage.
Designated hitter Jackson Down walked three times and scored twice while outfielder Sammy Seeger collected a pair of hits and scored three times from the leadoff spot.
Chase Pair threw a complete game on the mound, allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings. He struck out five and faced the minimum over the final four innings.
UAFS continues on the road this weekend at Northwest Missouri State.
