FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball will wrap up its home slate this week as the Lions take on Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State at the Stubblefield Center.
UAFS will take on the Griffons at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and then close out the home slate at 1 p.m. Saturday against the Bearcats. Senior Day will take place prior to the game Saturday.
Both games will be streamed on the MIAA Network and broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5. Live stats will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions went 2-0 at the Stubblefield Center, defeating Washburn, 83-81, and Central Missouri, 66-60.
KPI: UAFS ranked sixth in the latest MIAA KPI standings. The standings will be used to seed the MIAA Tournament.
STAT SHEET STUFFER: Guard Zyniah Thomas posted her fourth game of at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists this season in the win over Washburn. She also added three steals.
AROUND THE LEAGUE: The Lions are third in the MIAA in scoring (74.5), third in made threes (7.4), fourth in rebounding (40.6) and third in blocks (4.2).
RECORD WATCH: Forward Sinetra Jones ranks fifth with 72 career blocks. She had four blocks in the win over Central Missouri, giving her five games this season with four or more blocks.
SCOUTING MWSU: The Griffons are 16-7, 11-4 MIAA and second in the MIAA KPI standings. Missouri Western leads the MIAA in made threes per game at 9.9 and features the league's second leading scorer in guard Alyssa Bonilla at 17.2 points per game.
SCOUTING NWM: The Bearcats are 12-13, 5-10 MIAA and eighth in the KPI. Northwest is third in the league in scoring defense at 61.9 points per game while being led offensively by guard Caely Kesten at 14.7 points per game.
THE SERIES: This will be the inaugural meeting for the Lions with both opponents.
