FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball rallied for a 66-60 win over Central Missouri Saturday, erasing a nine-point second half deficit at the Stubblefield Center.
After the Jennies hit a three to open the third quarter, the Lions took the lead with 2:11 left in the frame after an extended 18-8 run, with guard Morgan Browning leading the way with eight points.
The teams continued to trade the lead until the final minute, when guard Zyniah Thomas broke a 58-58 tie with a jumper in the paint.
The game then turned into a free throw contest in the final seconds, with the Lions going 6-for-8 from the charity stripe to close out the game.
Browning led the Lions with 17 points and six rebounds, while Thomas finished with 16 points and four assists. UAFS had 10 steals on the afternoon, with three each by guards Anna Trusty and Daijah Smith.
UAFS finished with a 19-9 advantage in points off turnovers and had 14 fast break points. The Lions also held the Jennies to just 28.0 percent from beyond the arc.
The Lions will remain at home next week as they host Missouri Western Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.
