HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball was held scoreless for the first eight innings as the Lions dropped a 7-1 decision to Southern Arkansas in game two of the Dugan Invitational.
The Lions were able to push across a run in the ninth after outfielder Randon Ray singled and later scored an unearned run. Ray had two of the Lions' four hits on the afternoon.
Lefty Grant Shankle pitched into the seventh inning, allowing three runs on five hits with five strikeouts over 6.1 frames. He kept the Muleriders off the scoreboard until the fifth and then Southern Arkansas pushed across three in the seventh and three in the ninth.
UAFS will look to bounce back Sunday in the tournament finale at noon at Henderson State.
