WICHITA, Kan. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball dropped to 0-2 in MIAA play after the Lions were defeated, 77-60, Saturday at Newman.
The Lions trailed by 18 midway through the second quarter before they closed the first half on a 13-0 run to trail 35-30 at the half. Keytonna Ross and D'Ajha each had five points during the run.
However, the Jets grew the lead back to double digits as the Lions were unable to get back in the game.
UAFS had a 39-34 edge on the boards as the Lions recorded 10 second chance points. UAFS also had 25 bench points.
Guard Jah'Mareah Linville led the Lions with 14 points while forward Marie Rose Priscilla Wemba had 12. Horton finished with 10 points while Layne Kirkendoll tallied seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Lions return to nonconference play December 13 at 1 p.m. at Maryville University.
