ST. LOUIS – Forward Marie Rose Priscilla Wemba scored a season-high 16 points bu University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball dropped a nonconference matchup at Maryville Saturday, 80-59.
Wemba shot 7-for-11 from the field and pulled down four rebounds. Guard Senese Rainey added 10 points with three triples while guards Caiyiah Smith and Jah'Mareah Linville each finished with nine points.
The Lions started the game on a 5-0 run and led 9-8 before the Saints closed the first quarter on a 9-2 run. UAFS got back within five before Maryville hit a buzzer beater to end the half as the Saints led 34-27 at the break.
However, the Saints shot 60.0 percent in the third quarter and outscored the Lions 28-13 in the frame.
The Lions finished with 22 points in the paint and nine second chance points.
UAFS wraps up its nonconference schedule December 20 at 2 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center as the Lions host Drury.
