FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball is gearing up for a busy week, playing three times in five days.
The week starts Tuesday when the Lions play their first game of the Drury Thanksgiving Classic, taking on Truman State at 1 p.m. UAFS will then play host Drury at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. Both games will be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network.
UAFS then returns home Saturday to host Ouachita Baptist at 2 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center. That game will air on the MIAA Network and Fox Sports Radio 103.5. Live stats for all three games can be found at uafortsmithlions.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: The Lions are still looking for their first win after defeats to Arkansas Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma State last week.
11: UAFS made a season-high 11 threes in the game at Southeastern Oklahoma.
OFF THE BENCH: Forward Marie Rose Priscilla Wemba has averaged 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in her last two games. She is 11-for-13 from the floor in those two games, including 5-for-5 against the Savage Storm.
LEAGUE LEADERS: Guard Telisha Brown ranks fourth in the MIAA in scoring at 18.0 points per game.
RECORD WATCH: Forward Layne Kirkendoll ranks 11th with 39 career blocks.
SCOUTING TSU: The Bulldogs are 1-3 on the year after dropping their last three games. Guard Morgan Miller paces TSU with 12.3 points per game.
SCOUTING DU: The Panthers are 1-2 on the year after winning their home opener over Texas A&M International. Guard Rhi Gibbons averages 14.0 points and 6.3 rebounds while forward Sara Mendel averages 13.7 points and 8.7 boards to lead the Panthers.
SCOUTING OBU: The Tigers are 1-1 on the season, with guard Madeleine Tipton the lone player to average double figures with 17.0 points per game.
THE SERIES: The Lions are 1-0 against Truman State after defeating the Bulldogs in this event last season while 0-7 against Drury. UAFS is 5-4 all-time versus Ouachita Baptist.
