WARRENSBURG, Mo. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith battled with Central Missouri Saturday, but the Jennies came out with the three-set win over the Lions, 25-15, 28-26, 25-20.
The Lions rallied from down three in set two to tie the set at 22-22 and then rallied once again to hold off a set point by scoring three straight to take a 25-25 advantage. After the Jennies tied it at 25, UAFS once again had set point but UCM tallied the final three points to take a 2-0 lead.
UCM outhit the Lions in the match, .245-.130.
Libero Abbey Jackson led the Lions with 21 digs while setter Scarlette Young had 24 assists and 11 digs. At the net, both outside hitter Lydia Pitts and middle Crystal Smith had three blocks.
Offensively, Smith led the Lions with seven kills while Pitts and middle Aspen Olson each had six kills. Olson hit .313 for the match.
UAFS returns home next week for its final two home matches of the year, starting with Newman at 6 p.m. November 7 at the Stubblefield Center.
