FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball swept the season series with Arkansas-Monticello Tuesday by sweeping the Blossoms, 25-20, 25-17, 25-11 at the Stubblefield Center.
The Lions hit .225 for the match while holding UAM to .009. UAFS had a 7-2 edge in blocks.
Middle Crystal Smith led the Lions with four blocks while outside hitter Bree Pardy racked up a team-high 12 digs to lead the defensive effort. Libero Abbey Jackson added 11 digs.
UAFS scored the first six points of the match and led by as many as 12 points in the opening set before the Blossoms rallied with a 9-1 run to pull within 24-20. UAFS then proceeded to win the set on a UAM attack error.
UAM had its only lead of the match by scoring the first point of set two before the Lions went on a 9-0 run to lead 12-3. The Blossoms made another rally to get within four, but the Lions scored kills on five of their final six points for a 2-0 lead.
The Lions then put the match away with an 8-0 run in the final set to take a 15-4 advantage with middle Aspen Olson collecting three kills during the run. Olson had five of her team-high 13 kills in the final set. She hit .333 for the match.
Outside hitter Lydia Pitts added nine kills and nine digs for the Lions while right-side hitter Morgan Creer hit .600 with seven kills.
Setters Scarlette Young and Trinity Funderburk contributed 20 and 11 assists, respectively.
UAFS returns to MIAA play at 6 p.m. at Nebraska-Kearney.
