KEARNEY, Neb. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball was unable to keep pace with No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney Thursday, falling 25-13, 25-21, 25-19 to the Lopers in MIAA action.
UNK hit above .300 in all three sets and finished at .354 for the match while the Lions hit .158. After hitting .000 in the opening set, UAFS hit .263 in set two.
UAFS scored first in each of the first two sets, but UNK responded with a 5-0 early in both sets to pull ahead.
The Lions had a 12-10 lead in set three before the set was tied at 14, but the Lopers used yet another 5-0 run to put away the match.
Outside hitter Lydia Pitts hit .423 with 12 kills for the Lions while middle Crystal Smith hit .385 with seven kills. Middle Aspen Olson also tallied seven kills for the Lions.
Setter Scarlette Young had 20 assists for the Lions while outside hitter Bree Pardy had a team-high seven digs.
UAFS is back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fort Hays State.
