Lions take winning streak to Newman, Emporia State

FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball takes its three-game winning streak on the road as the Lions are set to visit Newman and Emporia State this week.

The Lions and Jets will tip off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday before the Lions travel to the Hornets for a 1:30 p.m. game Sunday. Both games will be streamed on the MIAA Network with live stats available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: UAFS completed the season sweep over Northeastern State with an 81-75 road victory.

1,000: Guard Hannah Boyett became the first Lion in the NCAA II era to score 1,000 points in the win at Northeastern State last week.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Guard Anna Trusty has scored in double figures in her last 15 games while guard Morgan Browning has reached that mark in 10 of her last 11 games.

RECORD WATCH: Forward Sinetra Jones ranks fifth with 64 career blocks.

CLOSING TIME: The Lions have outscored their opponents, 67-40, in the fourth quarter during their three-game win streak.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: UAFS ranks second in the MIAA in offensive rebounds with 12.7 per game and leads the league with 4.6 blocks per game.

SCOUTING: NU: The Jets are 6-11, 1-7 MIAA and a 4-3 record at home. The Jets score the least amount of points in the league at 59.4 points per game, with forward Jaeden McMillin the only Jet averaging double figures with 12.1 points per game.

SCOUTING ESU: The Hornets are 7-10, 2-6 MIAA after having lost five games in a row. ESU is 5-4 on their home court, led by guard Katie Horyna with 16.4 points per game. The Hornets allow the most points per game in the league at 75.4 per game.

THE SERIES: UAFS leads the all-time series with Newman, 13-10, while the Lions are 0-4 all-time against Emporia State.
