TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Guard Anna Trusty poured in a career-high 27 points as University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball rallied for an 81-75 win at Northeastern State Thursday.
Trusty finished 8-for-13 from the field, including 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and was 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Down just one at the break, the Lions found themselves trailing, 55-46, with less than two minutes left in the third. UAFS then went on a 9-0 run to end the quarter, with Trusty scoring the final five points of the run, capped with a corner three at the buzzer.
The Lions shot 62.5 percent in the third and were a perfect 9-for-9 from two-point range.
In the fourth, the Lions broke open a one-point game with a 13-3 run spanning nearly five minutes. Guard Telisha Brown fueled the run with seven points while guard Morgan Browning scored six points from the foul line in the quarter.
Browning added 16 points while Brown tallied 11 for the Lions. Forward Sinetra Jones contributed 12 points and six boards off the bench while forward Layne Kirkendoll had a team-high eight boards.
Guard Hannah Boyett became the first Lion to score 1,000 career points in the NCAA II era as she connected on a free throw in the fourth quarter.
The Lions will have the weekend off before travelling to Newman January 23 at 5:30 p.m.
