HENRYETTA, Okla. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Tennis faced a pair of ranked opponents Saturday when the Lions squared off against Southern Arkansas.
The men dropped a 5-2 decision to the No. 25 Muleriders while the women fell, 6-2 to No. 15 SAU.
Petra Csizmadia and Arianna De Bernardo claimed a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles over the No. 10-ranked duo in the country, but the Muleriders came away with the doubles point.
Csizmadia and Taylor Conway each went three sets in their single matches but came up short in the tiebreaker sets. Isabella Serrano scored the lone point for the Lions with a 6-1, 2-6, 10-8 win at No. 6 singles.
UAFS earned the doubles point when the duo of No. 28 Anis Ramchane and Killian Darneaux defeated their opponent 6-3 at No. 1 and Eduardo Bribiesca and Eddie Hunter picked up a 6-4 win at No. 3.
Ramchane then picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles over No. 54 Ole Valkyser. Juan Rosello went to three sets against No. 64 Tim Fischer but dropped the match, 6-4, 4-6, 2-6.
Women's tennis returns to action Monday at 2 p.m. to host Newman before both teams travel to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday.
