FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball will travel to Frisco, Texas, this weekend, as the Lions gear up for the Lone Star Conference Championship at the Comerica Center March 8-10.
The Lions are the No. 8 seed and will face No. 1 seed Texas Woman's at 6 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals. Women's semifinals are set for 6 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. Saturday with the championship Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
All tournament games will be broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network. Live stats will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.
This will be the third and final appearance for UAFS in the LSC Championship, having previously qualified for the tournament in 2020 and 2022.
UAFS has faced its opening round opponent twice this season, with Texas Woman's winning both matchups. Guard Baylee Fincher averaged 14.5 points in the two matchups while forward Sinetra Jones had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in the game at TWU.
The Lions will look to utilize the three-point line to defeat the Pioneers, as UAFS finished second in the LSC at 33.6 percent and third with 7.6 made threes per game. TWU was fourth in opponent three-point percentage at 28.7 percent with the Lions shooting 14-for-45 (31.1) from beyond the arc in the two regular season matchups.
UAFS went 7-4 this season when making at least 10 threes and 7-1 when shooting above 40 percent from distance.
Both teams feature some of the top rebounders in the LSC, as TWU's Ashley Ingram ranks fifth with 8.6 rebounds per game and forward Kayla Brundidge is 12th with 7.0 boards per game. Brundidge is also one of the league's top shot blockers at 1.1 blocks per game.
Tickets for the LSC Basketball Tournaments are available as single session passes priced at $18 for adults and $12 for students. Each single-session ticket includes two tournament games and is redeemable for the specified session only. Tickets can be purchased at Comerica Center Box Office or online through Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.com) now through the end of the tournament. Tickets purchased on Ticketmaster are subject to additional fees and taxes. No additional fees will be applied to tickets purchased at Comerica Center Box Office.
