FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis went toe-to-toe with No. 34 Northwest Missouri State Wednesday before the Bearcats edged out a 4-2 decision.
Anis Ramchane and Killian Darneaux moved up to No. 19 in the lates ITA doubles rankings, and made quick work at No. 1, winning 6-0. However, the Bearcats took the remaining two matches to take the point.
Eduardo Bribiesca put the Lions on the board in singles play, making the match 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3. UAFS then evened the match with a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 2 by Juan Rosello.
The Bearcats then edged out Killian Darneaux and Kevin Praphan at Nos. 5 & 6, respectively, to steal the win. Juan Patino was ahead in the third set when the match was decided.
Rosello and Bribiesca also earned wins at Nos. 2 & 3 in a 5-2 defeat at Southeastern Oklahoma State Tuesday.
UAFS is off until March 28 when the Lions begin Lone Star Conference play against Western New Mexico at 9 a.m. at The Hangout Fort Smith.
