FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Men's Tennis recorded a clean sweep in its Lone Star Conference opener Thursday by tallying a 7-0 win over Western New Mexico at Ben Geren Park.
With the Lions already taking No. 3 doubles by forfeit, the Lions only needed to win one of two matches to claim the point. UAFS would win both, but WNMU didn't make it easy. Anis Ramchane and Killian Darneaux won, 7-5, at No. 1 and Juan Rosello and Juan Patino claimed a 7-6 win at No. 2.
The Lions went relatively unchallenged in singles play, starting with Ramchane taking a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1. Rosello played in the only match to go three sets before ultimately coming out on top, 6-7, 6-2, 10-6.
Eduardo Bribiesca cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3, while Darneuax tallied a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4. Patino capped the sweep with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5. Keven Praphan was credited the win at No. 6 via forfeit.
