ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Tennis went 1-2 to open the 2024 season this weekend, picking up a 4-3 win over Christian Brothers on Saturday.
Despite losing the doubles point against CBU, the Lions fought back to win four singles matches to earn the win.
Petra Csizmadia won 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 while Camila Romero won her first match in over a year with a 7-5, 6-3, decision at No. 3. Isabella Serrano cruised at No. 6, winning 6-2, 6-0 to even the match at 3-3.
Freshman Taylor Conway then won her first collegiate match in a thriller, 6-7, 6-2, 10-7 to secure the match for the Lions.
In the other two matches, the Lions dropped a 6-0 decision to Henderson State Friday and a 4-0 defeat to Ouachita Baptist Saturday.
Up next for the Lions is an exhibition against Seward County Community College on February 20 at the Hangout Fort Smith before visiting Northeastern State Feb. 24.
