FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball racked up 13 total blocks but the Lions were unable to come away with the win, dropping an 18-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-25 decision to Central Missouri Saturday at the Stubblefield Center.
The Lions were held to under a .100 attack percentage for just the second time this season, hitting .079 while the Jennies hit .172.
After UCM controlled the first set, the Lions used a 6-0 run in set two to take a 9-5 advantage. The Jennies regained the lead at 21-19 before four straight points by the Lions put them up, 23-21. Tied at 23, a kill by middle blocker Kaelyn McDonald and an ace by libero Calista Miller gave the Lions the set win.
Set three was tied at 21-21 before a pair of Lion attack errors allowed the Jennies to score four of the final five points of the set. UCM then raced out to an 8-2 lead in the final set to put the match away.
Miller saw her first extended action of the season, racking up a season-high 22 digs. Outside hitter Caelyn Gunn and setter Scarlette Young each corralled 17 digs while outside hitter Nyia Anderson had 12.
Young dished out 13 assists with fellow setter Brelee Mauldin handing out 15.
McDonald led the Lions with 11 kills on a .346 attack percentage and three blocks, while middle blocker Brianna Ball had a team-high five blocks.
UAFS begins its final road trip of the regular season next week by visiting Newman at 6 p.m. Friday.
