FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Baseball was swept in a doubleheader against No. 10 St. Edward's Sunday at Crowder Field, with the Hilltoppers winning, 6-2, and 10-0.
St. Edward's took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third in the opener, which saw the Lions answer back in the bottom half of the inning when outfielder Blayse Quarnstrom scampered home on a wild pitch.
After the Hilltoppers regained the lead with two runs in the fifth, Quarnstrom drove in outfielder Brandon Ulmer with a fielder's choice to make it 3-2.
However, the Hilltoppers tacked on three insurance runs in the top of the sixth.
Ulmer led the Lions at the plate in the opener with two hits and a run scored. Starter Brayden Johnson allowed four runs – three earned – on eight hits with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
