RUSSELVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Tennis continued the early portion of its schedule Monday as the Lions took on Arkansas Tech. However, the Golden Suns walked away with the 7-0 victory.
Both doubles matches were tightly contested, with No. 1 doubles pair Joanna Potet and Arianna De Bernardo claiming a 7-6 victory. No. 2 doubles was decided by the same score as Isabella Serrano and Petra Csizmadia came up just short in the tiebreaker.
Arkansas Tech then swept all six singles matches. Sofia Tominaga dropped set one, 6-0 at No. 4, then bounced back to win the second set, 6-2. The match had already been decided when she was defeated in the third set tiebreaker.
UAFS is in the middle of a busy two week stretch, with the Lions next hosting Northeastern State at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.
