Brown leads three in double figures at UTPB

ODESSA, Texas – Guard Payton Brown scored a game-high 21 points as University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball dropped a 75-62 decision at UT Permian Basin Saturday.

Brown finished 8-for-12 from the field to lead three Lions in double figures. Guard Roland McCoy tallied 12 points off the bench while forward Ryan Maxwell added 10 points.

The Lions got off to a fast start, twice leading by six before the second media timeout. UAFS continued to lead until the final four minutes of the half, when the Falcons jumped ahead with a 7-0 run. UAFS shot 56.5 percent in the first 20 minutes.

UTPB led by five at the break, but the Lions would only get within three on a layup by Brown on the opening possession of the second half. UTPB finished with an 11-point advantage at the free throw line.

Guard Lian Ramiro dished out a season-high eight assists while forward Jace Linenberger pulled down nine rebounds.

UTPB had 16 offensive rebounds, which led to 18 second chance points to just four for the Lions.

The Lions will play an exhibition Sunday at noon at NCAA I UTSA before wrapping up the first half of the season at Oklahoma Christian December 19.
