FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball was unable to replicate the magic from the last time it hosted a ranked West Texas A&M, as the Lions fell, 81-61, to the visiting Buffaloes Thursday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

The Lions led by six at the first media timeout and held the lead until the midway point of the first half until the Buffs went on a 10-0 run to take a 20-14 lead. UAFS ended the run with a three by guard Lian Ramiro but that was as close as it would get the rest of the way.

WT finished the game shooting 46.9 percent to 36.4 percent for UAFS.

Guard Payton Brown scored a team-high 10 points, while Ramiro added nine. Guard Roland McCoy added eight points while guards Jaden Monday and Cameron Bush each tallied seven points. Forward Furaha Cadeaux de Dieu had six points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Lions will next look for their first conference win of the season Saturday at 3 p.m. against Lubbock Christian.
