SPEARFISH, S.D. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball shot 50.0 percent from the floor in its season opener Friday against Metro State – Denver but came up short versus the Roadrunners, 101-84 at the South Central Region Crossover at Black Hills State.
Forward Addison Wallace was 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and led the Lions with 18 points and nine rebounds.
The Lions connected on their first four shots of the game as they led 8-2 early but the Roadrunners went on a 16-4 run to take an 18-12 lead. UAFS battled back to take a 30-28 lead before going into the halftime break trailing 43-35.
UAFS would only get within six in the second half as MSU-Denver shot 62.1 percent in the final 20 minutes to pull away for the win.
Guard Lian Ramiro added 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting for the Lions while guard Kobe Campbell added 13 points. Forwards Furaha Cadeaux de Dieu and Ryan Maxwell added nine and eight points, respectively.
UAFS closes out the weekend by playing host Black Hills State at 7 p.m. Saturday.
