Volleyball bounces back with sweep at Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball bounced back from its first Lone Star Conference loss with a sweep at Cameron Saturday, defeating the Aggies, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.

The Lions got the offense back on track by hitting .268 for the match and had three players hit over .300 with double digit kills. Outside hitter Nyia Anderson had 15 kills and hit .379 while fellow outside hitter Caelyn Gunn hit .300 with 13 kills. Middle blocker Hannah Watkins was the third with 10 kills and a .348 attack percentage.

Setter Chloe Price dished out 34 assists while libero Paola Fragalle had nine.

After a tough match Friday night, the Lions got off to a slow start in set one before erasing a six-point deficit with an 8-0 run. Price and Gunn each had two kills during the rally. A 4-1 run extended the UAFS lead to five before Watkins closed out the set with a pair of kills.

UAFS led by seven early in set two until the Aggies rallied late with a 6-1 spurt to tie the set at 23-23. The Lions broke the tie on a kill by Gunn and then took the set on a block by Gunn and middle blocker Angelina Hardison.

Set three saw the Lions hit .417 and use an 8-1 run to cruise to the three-set win.

Fragalle led the Lions with 20 digs while Anderson and Gunn each recorded double doubles with 15 and 13 digs, respectively.

UAFS next visits Dallas Baptist on Wednesday before returning to the Stubblefield Center against St. Edward's October 27.
