DALLAS – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball couldn't hold on after a fast start in a 25-18, 19-25, 18-25, 15-25 defeat at Dallas Baptist Wednesday.
The Lions hit .371 in set one with 15 kills as they took the opening set. Despite dropping set two, the Lions continued their strong offensive performance by hitting .379.
UAFS attempted to reclaim the momentum with an early lead in set three, but DBU used multiple short runs to lead by as many as eight before taking a 2-1 lead. The Lions never led in set four as the Patriots closed out the match.
Right-side hitter Reagan Macha led the Lions' attack with 12 kills while hitting .348 while outside hitter Caelyn Gunn added 11 kills. Middle blocker Hannah Watkins hit .467 with nine kills with setter Chloe Price dishing out 34 assists.
Both teams hit a high percentage for the match, with DBU at .293 and UAFS at .248. DBU had a 7-2 edge in aces.
Four players registered eight or more digs, led by 10 from libero Paola Fragalle.
UAFS returns to the Stubblefield Center Friday at 6 p.m. against St. Edward's.
