CANYON, Texas - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball suffered its first Lone Star Conference loss of the season Friday, dropping a 25-22, 25-18, 25-22 decision at No. 5 West Texas A&M.
UAFS was held to a .117 attack percentage, its third lowest mark of the season. West Texas A&M hit .264 for the match.
The Lions led 14-11 in the opening set after a 5-0 run before the Buffs retook the lead with a 7-2 run. At 19-18, WT scored three straight points for a 22-18 advantage before taking the set.
UAFS jumped ahead early in set two at 4-1, but an 8-0 run by WT allowed them to take a 2-0 lead. Down 22-18 in set three, the Lions scored three straight to get within 22-21 before the Buffs closed the match with three of the final four points.
Outside hitter
Caelyn Gunn led the Lions with 11 kills, while outside hitter
Nyia Anderson added eight. Middle blocker
Angelina Hardison had seven kills. Setter
Chloe Price finished with 31 assists, including 16 in the first set to eclipse 2,000 assists for her UAFS career. All three finished with 10 digs apiece.

Paola Fragalle had a team-high 23 digs.
UAFS will look to bounce back Saturday at Cameron at 2 p.m.
