Lions to visit top two LSC foes this week

FORT SMITH, Ark. - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball looks to add to its winning streak as it takes on the top two teams in the Lone Star Conference in UT Tyler and Texas Woman's.

The Lions are scheduled to play at UT Tyler at 5 p.m. Thursday and at Texas Woman's at 2 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streamed on the LSC Digital Network with live stats available at uafslions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: UAFS earned a pair of victories on the road at Midwestern State and Cameron.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: Guard Aaliyah Prince ranks fifth in the LSC in scoring at 14.8 points per game while guard Riley Hayes is third with 2.4 made threes per game. Forward Kayla Brundidge is eighth with 1.1 blocks per contest.

FROM DISTANCE: UAFS is third in the LSC in three-point percentage at 33.1 percent. UAFS has made at least five threes in all but five games this season.

RECORD WATCH: Guard Hannah Boyett continues to inch closer to the most career made threes record, just 16 back with 135 made threes. Hayes is seventh with 71 made threes.

FIRST TIME AROUND: UAFS hosted both teams earlier in the season, with the Patriots and Pioneers leaving the Stubblefield Center with victories.

THE SERIES: The Lions are 2-2 against UT Tyler and 1-6 against Texas Woman's.

SCOUTING UTT: The Patriots are 16-3, 11-1 LSC and are 6-0 at home this season. UTT leads the LSC in scoring defense at 57.4 points per game and is second in opponent field goal percentage at 35.5 percent. Guard Destini Whitehead paces the Patriots with 13.8 points per game while guard Lovisa Hevinder averages 9.7 points and 6.1 boards per game.

SCOUTING TWU: The Pioneers have risen to No. 4 in the latest WBCA Coaches Poll Top 25 at 17-1, 12-0 LSC with 15 straight wins. TWU leads the league in scoring at 70.4 points per game, paced by forward Ashley Ingram and guard Sadie Moyer at 15.8 and 14.7 points per game, respectively.

RANKED WIN: The last win for the Lions against a ranked opponent was an 85-84 victory over No. 4/6 Texas A&M-Commerce to end the 2019-20 regular season.
