Lions aim to start winning streak versus St. Mary's, St. Edward's

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Coming off a road win at Texas A&M International, University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Women's Basketball returns to Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center this week to host St. Mary's and St. Edward's.

The Lions will face the Rattlers at 5:30 p.m. Thursday before facing the Hilltoppers at 1 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network as well as broadcast on Fox Sports Radio 103.5. Live stats will be available at uafslions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: UAFS split its road trip to Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International, falling to the Javelinas before earning the win against the Dustdevils.

4: The Lions dominated the fourth quarter in the win against the Dustdevils, outscoring them, 25-11, and forcing nine turnovers while shooting 58.9 percent.

TAKE IT AWAY: UAFS recorded a season high 14 steals in the win over TAMIU. Forward Kayla Brundidge had five of those steals.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: Guard Aaliyah Prince is seventh in the LSC in scoring at 14.4 points per game and fourth in field goal percentage at 44.7 percent. Guard Riley Hayes is second in 3-point field goal percentage (37.4) and 3-point field goals per game (2.5).

RECORD WATCH: Guard Hannah Boyett is second with 125 career made threes. Guard Riley Hayes is eighth with 63 made threes.

THE SERIES: UAFS leads both series, leading St. Mary's, 13-11, and St. Edward's, 16-11.

SCOUTING STMU: The Rattlers have lost eight in a row after a 5-1 start and sit at 5-9, 1-7 LSC. Forward Gabby Elliott is the only Rattler averaging double figures at 11.4 points per game and also leads the team in rebounds with 6.6 per contest.

SCOUTING SEU:  St. Edward's lost both games last week and enters the weekend 7-9, 3-4 LSC. SEU is just 1-4 away from home this season. Three players average double figures for the Hilltoppers, led by forward Morgan Gary's 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
