KINGSVILLE, Texas - University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Volleyball was swept Friday at Texas A&M-Kingsville, falling 20-25, 17-25, 20-25 to the Javelinas in Lone Star Conference action.
The Javelinas hit a blistering .406 for the match while the Lions hit .235.
UAFS held a four-point lead early in set one before TAMUK tied the set at 16-16 with a pair of 3-0 runs. Kingsville then broke that tie with a 4-0 run and held off the Lions for the remainder of the set for a 1-0 lead.
The Lions once again led in the first half of set two until the Javelinas broke through with runs of 5-0 and 4-0 to lead by as many as eight. Set three went back-and-forth as well until the Lions couldn't keep up with the .405 set attack percentage of TAMUK.
Middle blocker Hannah Watkins led the Lions with eight kills and a .500 attack percentage. Setters Chloe Price and Chloe Alderson had 14 and 12 assists, respectively. Price and outside hitter Caelyn Gunn each had a team-high eight digs.
The road trip continues Saturday at Texas A&M International at 2 p.m.
