FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Tennis rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to defeat Western New Mexico, 4-3, Friday at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.
Anis Ramchane and Killian Darneaux teamed up for a 6-3 win at number three doubles, but the Mustangs won the other two matches to earn the doubles point.
After WNMU took the point at number one singles, Ramchane got the Lions on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at number two.
Ethan Eddleman evened the match at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number five before Juan Rosello and Nicolas Retamales picked up wins at numbers three and four, respectively, to give the Lions the lead.
Rosello won a marathon of a match, dropping the tiebreaker in set one before rallying to 6-4 and 6-3 wins in the final two sets. Retamales won the decisive match, 6-4, 6-1.
UAFS will host its home finale tomorrow against UT Permian Basin at 12:30 p.m. with a senior presentation prior to the match.
