DALLAS – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Tennis swept singles play on its way to a 6-1 Lone Star Conference victory at Dallas Baptist Saturday.
Nicolas Retamales and Ethan Eddleman breezed through their matches at numbers five and six, respectively, with Retamales winning 6-1, 6-2 and Eddleman staking claim a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The matches got tougher from flights four through one, but that didn't stop the Lions from coming out on top. At number four, Juan Rosello won 7-5, 7-5, while Anis Ramchane defeated his opponent, 7-5, 6-3 at number three.
Both of the top two flights went three sets, with Daniel Borrero earning a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 come from behind win at number two. Wian Van Dyk also came from behind at number one, winning 2-6, 7-5, 10-8.
The sweep of singles action came after the Patriots swept doubles for their lone point. Van Dyk and Eddleman had a competitive match at number one, but fell, 7-5.
UAFS will next visit Southeastern Oklahoma State and Harding for a pair of nonconference matches Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
