FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Tennis suffered a pair of setbacks in nonconference matches this week, dropping a 6-1 decision at Southeastern Oklahoma State and a 4-3 loss at Harding.
Ethan Eddleman claimed the lone point for the Lions at number five singles against the Savage Storm, winning 7-6, 6-3.
Juan Rosello and Killian Darneaux each had three-set losses at numbers three and six, respectively. Rosello bounced back after dropping set one, 2-6, to win set two, 7-6. However, he dropped the third set, 6-0. Darneaux won set one, 6-4, before being defeated in sets two and three, 4-6 and 3-10.
At No. 43 Harding, the Bisons claimed all three doubles matches by identical scores of 6-2.
In singles play, Darneaux picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at number six while Anis Ramchane won 6-1, 6-3 at number two. Daniel Borrero won set one 6-2 and lost in set two, 4-6, but was given the win by retirement despite trailing, 2-3, in the third set.
UAFS returns home Saturday to host UT Tyler at 10 a.m. at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.
