FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball will visit Lubbock Christian in the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Tournament, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.
Tickets for the game are $10 and can be purchased here. Additionally, all 11 women's basketball championship games will be broadcast exclusively on the LSC Digital Network at www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com or the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase an LSC Basketball Championship Day Pass for $10 that will provide access to all 2022 basketball tournament games broadcast that day and archived games from earlier rounds. Live stats will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.
The Lions are seeded 12th in the tournament, while the Chaps are the fifth seed. UAFS finished 7-17, 4-10 LSC with LCU finishing 24-5, 12-4 LSC. The winner advances to the quarterfinals, which will be played against fourth-seeded Angelo State Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
In the regular season matchup, the Chaps got the best of the Lions, winning 71-34 in early January. Despite a slow start, the Lions were nearly even with the Chaps in the second half and have consistently improved throughout the season.
Guard Paige Elston led UAFS in scoring with 14.8 points per game this season, while forward Mar'Shalia Lollie averaged 11.3 points and 8.4 rebounds. Elston ranks sixth in the league in scoring and Lollie is third in rebounding. Elston is also sixth in the LSC in steals at 2.3 per game.
LCU is led by guards Allie Schulte and Ashton Duncan, who average 11.8 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. The Chaps lead the league in points allowed a just 51.6 points per game, which is fourth in all of Division II.
Tickets to the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship are available as single-session passes. Prices are $15 for adults and $12 for students. Each single-session ticket includes two tournament games and is redeemable for the specified session only. Tickets can be purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office or online through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) now through the end of the tournament. Tickets purchased on Ticketmaster are subject to additional fees and taxes. No additional fees will be applied to tickets purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office.
The winner of the tournament will be named the Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Champions and earn the league's automatic qualification to the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball South Central Regional held March 11-12-14 at a site to be determined. The winner of the South Central Region will advance to the Elite Eight to be held March 21-22-24 in Birmingham, Ala.
