Women's Basketball closes regular season with rematches at MSU, TWU

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball concludes the regular season this week by traveling to Midwestern State and Texas Woman's Thursday and Saturday.

UAFS is scheduled to play the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and the Pioneers at 2 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Networks with live stats also available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: The Lions dropped a pair of home games to Angelo State, 67-55, and UT Permian Basin, 61-59, to close out the home portion of their schedule at the Stubblefield Center.

TREYS FOR HAYES: Guard Riley Hayes connected on seven threes in the game against UTPB, tying for the second most in a game. Hayes had previously made only 16 threes heading into the game.

AROUND THE LEAGUE: Forward Mar'Shalia Lollie is third in the LSC in rebounding at 8.5 boards per game. UAFS is first in free throw percentage in conference only games at 77.9 percent while guard Paige Elston is fourth in scoring at 17.3 points in conference games.

LSC TOURANMENT: UAFS is currently 12th in the LSC standings. The top 12 teams qualify for the tournament, with first round games on campus March 1 with the remaining three rounds at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, March 4-6.

RECORD WATCH: Forward Mar'Shalia Lollie is the new record holder for offensive rebounds with 241 and ranks fifth with 484 total rebounds. Paige Elston is seventh in steals with 113 and sixth in assists with 182.

WE MEET AGAIN: UAFS hosted Midwestern State and Texas Woman's at the Stubblefield Center back in December, with MSU winning, 66-64, and TWU taking a 74-38 win.

THE SERIES: Midwestern State leads the all-time series, 3-2, after the win earlier this season, while Texas Woman's leads that series, 4-1.

SCOUTING MSU: The Mustangs are 12-12, 6-8 LSC and have lost their previous two games. Guard Morgan Lenahan leads MSU with 14.5 points per game, while guard Frances King averages 12.9 points per game and leads the league with 4.8 assists per game.

SCOUTING TWU: The Pioneers are in a three-way tie at the top of the conference at 18-7, 11-3 LSC. TWU rides a two-game win streak into the weekend, led by forward Ashley Ingram at 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Guard Sadie Moyer is second on the team at 13.2 points per game.
