Lions to host ASU, UTPB for final home weekend

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball will host its final two home games of the season this week, welcoming Angelo State and UT Permian Basin to Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

The Lions will face the Rambelles on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and the Falcons at 2 p.m. Saturday. Prior to Saturday's game the team will honor its three seniors.

Both games will be broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network as well as Fox Sports Radio 103.5. Live stats will also be available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST TIME OUT: UAFS swept its road trip at St. Edward's and St. Mary's, defeating the Hilltoppers, 67-62, and the Rattlers, 80-72.

STREAKING: The Lions have now won four games in a row, matching a four-game win streak from the 2019-20 season.

IN THE LEAGUE: Guard Paige Elston is seventh in the LSC in scoring at 14.8 points per game while forward Mar'Shalia Lollie is fourth in rebounding at 8.2 per game. In conference play, Elston is second at 17.8 points per game.

SEEING DOUBLE: Forward Mar'Shalia Lollie has had a double-double in five of her last six games and has eight double-doubles on the season.

FROM THE LINE: UAFS leads the LSC in free throw percentage in conference games at 79.1 percent.

CLIMBING THE STANDINGS: The two wins propelled the Lions from 13th to 11th in the Lone Star Conference standings, where the top 12 teams qualify for the conference tournament.

RECORD WATCH: Forward Mar'Shalia Lollie is the new record holder for offensive rebounds with 227 and ranks seventh with 461 total rebounds. Paige Elston is ninth in steals with 110 and sixth in assists with 184.

THE SERIES: Thursday will mark only the second meeting between Angelo State and UAFS, with the Rambelles winning by a single point in February of 2020. The Lions are 14-5 all-time against UT Permian Basin.

SCOUTING ASU: The Rambelles are 12-11, 9-3 LSC after winning three in a row and seven of their last eight. ASU is second in the LSC in assists at 15.9 per game and have four players averaging double figures in scoring, led by forward Blakely Gerber's 11.9 points per game.

SCOUTING UTPB: The Falcons saw their two-game win streak end last weekend and enter the week 6-18, 2-10 LSC. Forward Alexus Wykoff leads UTPB with 11.9 points per game while averaging 4.4 rebounds per game.
