Women's Basketball returns home to face ASU, UTPB

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball returns home this week as it continues Lone Star Conference play, hosting Angelo State Thursday and UT Permian Basin Saturday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.

The Lions will tip off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against the Rambelles on Gayle Kaundart Arena dedication night and at 1 p.m. Saturday against the Falcons. The team will be signing its schedule posters on Saturday at halftime of the men's game.

Both games will be streamed on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network and broadcast on Fox Sports Radio FM 103.5. Live stats will be available at uafslions.com.

NOTES:

LAST TIME OUT: UAFS dropped a pair of conference games last week, falling to West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian on the road.

HOME COOKING: The Lions return home this week, where they are 2-0 on the season. Four of the next five games for the Lions will be at the Stubblefield Center.

IN THE LEAGUE: Guard Aaliyah Prince is sixth in the league in scoring at 15.3 points per game. Guard Riley Hayes ranks second in three-point percentage at 50.0 percent and is fourth with 2.8 made threes per game.

BEYOND THE ARC: UAFS is tied for second in the LSC in three-point percentage at 35.9 percent. Hayes has made at least three triples in five of eight games this year.

FROM THE LINE: UAFS is fourth in the league in free throw percentage at 73.9 percent.

ON THE GLASS: Forward Kayla Brundidge is averaging 7.6 rebounds per game in the previous five games since being moved into the starting lineup.

RECORD WATCH: Guard Hannah Boyett ranks third all-time with 110 career made threes.

THE SERIES: UAFS is 0-2 versus Angelo State and 14-6 against UT Permian Basin.

SCOUTING ASU: The Rambelles are off to a 6-1, 2-0 LSC start and are on a four-game win streak. ASU has four players averaging more than 13 points per game, led by guard Sawyer Lloyd at 15.7 points per game. Forward Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant averages 15.0 points and 7.1 boards per game for ASU. ASU is second in the LSC in offensive rebounds at 14.7 per game and leads the leage in assist/turnover ratio.

SCOUTING UTPB: The Falcons sit at 4-4, 1-1 LSC prior to their matchup with Oklahoma Christian before heading to Fort Smith. Guard Andrea Mancha paces the Falcons with 14.4 points per game, a team that is second in the LSC with 8.5 made threes per game. UTPB forces a league high 24.0 turnovers per game.
