BETHANY, Okla. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball shot just 29.6 percent as it dropped a 69-43 decision in a nonconference matchup at Southern Nazarene Wednesday.
The Lions found themselves trailing 22-10 at the end of the first quarter but would get back in the game over the next 10 minutes. UAFS used a 14-4 run over the first five plus minutes of the second quarter as it pulled within 26-24.
However, the Lions would go scoreless for the remainder of the half as the Crimson Storm went on an 11-0 run that extended into the first three and a half minutes of the third quarter. UAFS was unable to cut into the deficit over the final 15 minutes.
Guards Aaliyah Prince and Rodrea Echols each scored in double figures for the Lions with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Prince and forward Sinetra Jones each had a team-high five rebounds.
UAFS continues its four-game road trip to start the season Saturday at 2 p.m. at Henderson State.
