Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lions upended by Greyhounds on the road

PORTALES, N.M. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Men's Basketball saw a double-digit second half lead slip away in a 62-59 loss Saturday at Eastern New Mexico in Lone Star Conference action.

The Lions led 50-35 with 12:27 remaining and still led by 11 at the 7:15 mark, but the Greyhounds hit three consecutive threes as they went on a 12-2 run to pull within 56-55 with just under four minutes to play.

Guard Drew Miller then buries a triple on the next possession to get the lead back to four, but ENMU hit yet another three. The Greyhounds then took the lead on a layup on the next trip down the floor.

The Lions had two opportunities to regain the lead in the final minute but came up empty on both trips. After a pair of Greyhound free throws, the Lions had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer but turned the ball over on the inbounds play.

UAFS led for more than 35 minutes and held a 33-21 lead at the half after closing the final eight minutes on a 16-5 run.

The Lions had four players score in double figures, with guards Matthew Wilson and Evan Anderson each scoring 13 points. Both added three steals apiece, with Anderson also dishing out six assists.

Forward Chris Rollins recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Cameron Bush was the fourth to reach double figures with 10 points off the bench.

Eastern New Mexico held a 40-29 advantage on the glass.

UAFS will look to get back on track at home as Oklahoma Christian visits Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center Tuesday evening.
