LUBBOCK, Texas – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball was unable to upset No. 6 and defending national champion Lubbock Christian Thursday, falling 71-34 to the Lady Chaps.
After shooting just 14.2 percent in the first half, the Lady Lions were more efficient in half two, shooting 52.4 percent, including 58.3 percent in the fourth quarter.
Guard Paige Elson led UAFS with nine points, while Rebecca Christodoulou scored eight points. Guard Nya Stewart added seven with guard Ashanti Eden contributing six.
Forward Shania Wilson had a team-high six rebounds.
UAFS returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m. at Eastern New Mexico.
