Stewart scores career-high; Lollie records double-double as Lions sweep Eagles

OKLAHOMA CITY – Guard Nya Stewart scored a career-high 22 points and forward Mar'Shalia Lollie recorded her fourth straight double-double as University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball completed the season sweep of Oklahoma Christian with an 84-75 win Thursday night.

The Lady Lions connected on a season-high nine threes, with Stewart going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Guards Dachelle Terry and Kalina Foster each knocked down two triples.

UAFS held a nine-point lead early in the fourth, but the Eagles fought back to tie the game at 72-72 with just over two minutes left.

Guard Paige Elston broke the tie with a pair of free throws, with Foster extending the lead to two possessions the next time down the court with a three. After a defensive stop, the Lions closed out the game by going 7-for-8 from the free throw line.

The Lions made a living at the line, going 27-for-33 for the game and 19-for-22 in the second half. Stewart, Elston and Lollie combined to go a perfect 23-of-23 from the charity stripe, with Elston going 13-for-13. The 13 made free throws are the most in a single game in program history.

Elston would finish with 19 points and had a season-high nine assists. Forward Laurissa Campbell added eight points and seven boards, while Terry finished with eight points.

Lollie scored 18 points to go with 15 rebounds, seven of the offensive variety. This ties Lollie for the most offensive rebounds in program history and led to an 18-7 advantage in second chance points.

The Lions' bench was once again a key factor, outscoring the Eagles, 32-19.

Whereas the Lions led for the majority of Tuesday's game, Thursday was more back-and-forth featuring 14 lead changes and nine ties.

UAFS shot 42.1 percent for the game while holding the Eagles to 37.3 percent.

The Lions begin the second half of Lone Star Conference play next Thursday against Texas A&M – Commerce at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
