Women's Basketball returns to action Thursday versus WNMU

FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Women's Basketball returns to action Thursday after having its game Tuesday against Oklahoma Christian postponed.

UAFS will be in action at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff against Western New Mexico. The game will be broadcast on the Lone Star Conference Digital Network and Fox Sports Radio 103.5. Live stats will be available at uafortsmithlions.com.

NOTES:

LAST TIME OUT: UAFS was defeated in Lone Star Conference games at Lubbock Christian, 71-34, and at Eastern New Mexico, 75-59.

LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING: In the loss at Eastern New Mexico, guard Paige Elston led UAFS in points, rebounds and assists. She finished with 23 points, seven boards and six assists.

CRASH THE GLASS: UAFS is fourth in the LSC in offensive rebounds per game with 15.1.

RECORD WATCH: Forward Mar'Shalia Lollie ranks 8th with 389 career rebounds. Lollie is 5th with 188 offensive rebounds.

RESCHEDULED: UAFS has rescheduled its matchup against Oklahoma Christian for January 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.

THE SERIES: UAFS is 1-0 all-time against Western New Mexico, winning 86-78 in Silver City in 2020. This will be the first trip to the Stubblefield Center for the Mustangs.

SCOUTING WNMU: The Mustangs are 4-5 and 0-1 LSC after dropping their conference opener versus Texas A&M-Kingsville. WNMU does not have a rotation player averaging double figures in scoring, with forward Zyan Smith leading the way with 9.4 points per game. Forward Destiney Johnson averages 7.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
