FORT SMITH, Ark. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball picked up its first Lone Star Conference win Saturday with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-20 sweep of Texas Woman's University at Gayle Kaundart Arena at the Stubblefield Center.
UAFS had its best offensive showing of the season, hitting a season-high .292 and racking up the most kills it has had in a three-set match.
Middle blocker Chyra Thompson was at the head of the offensive attack, racking up 12 kills on a .421 attack percentage. Middle blocker Hannah Holland also had an efficient match, tallying eight kills on a .467 attack percentage.
Outside hitter Paola Fragalle added 10 kills, as UAFS hit .310 in set one and .353 in set two.
The only time UAFS trailed was in the opening three points of the first two sets, as the Lady Lions were in control of much of the afternoon.
The UAFS defense returned to form, holding the Pioneers to a negative attack percentage in set one and to .064 for the match. UAFS had seven total blocks, with four players registering at least three blocks.
Along the back row, libero Lexy Lewis and defensive specialist Taylor Lintz led the Lions with 12 digs apiece. Setter Chloe Price chipped in with 10 digs.
Price's 10 digs allowed for another double-double, as she recorded 36 assists on the afternoon to go with five kills.
UAFS will look to build on its momentum as they visit Texas A&M-Commerce October 1.
