Win streak extends to three behind explosive offense

PORTALES, N.M. – University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Volleyball made quick work of Eastern New Mexico University Friday by sweeping the Greyhounds 25-19, 25-11, 25-17 in Lone Star Conference action.

UAFS had its best offensive performance of the season, hitting .385 for the match. The Lady Lions hit .545 in set two without committing an error and then hit .385 in the final set. They also had six of their eight aces in set two.

Right-side hitter Courtney Crownover led that offensive attack, hitting .533 with a team-high nine kills. Both middle blocker Chyra Thompson and outside hitter Reagan Macha had eight kills apiece, with Thompson hitting .667 for the match.

Setter Chloe Alderson dished out 30 assists and led the Lions with three aces.

Along the back row, libero Jazzlyn Wells led UAFS with 11 digs, while outside hitter Paola Fragalle and Macha added seven and five digs, respectively.

UAFS had seven blocks to just three for the Greyhounds, as UAFS held ENMU to a .111 attack percentage for the match.

The Lions had trailed 18-16 in the first set before going on a 9-1 run to close the set, getting two kills and three blocks from middle blocker Hannah Holland.

UAFS never trailed in set two, then used multiple 4-0 runs to erase a 7-3 deficit in set three. UAFS closed the match on a 5-0 run.

The Lions will look to extend their winning streak to four matches Saturday in a rematch at West Texas A&M. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
