Halums, Wilson Lead The Lions In First Round Loss To A&M-Commerce

UAFS men's basketball team has concluded the 2019-2020 season with a loss on the road as the Lions fell to A&M-Commerce in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament by the score of 73-77. UAFS has defeated A&M-C on Saturday but just did not have enough left in tank to defeat them one more time. The Lions were led by Halums with 29 points on 11-22 shooting from the field while also adding five rebounds. 

The Lions have concluded this season with a 13-16 record overall on the season and 9-13 in conference regular season. 

Tonight, Lions scored 73 points on 49.1 percent shooting from the field, 43.8 percent from the three points line and 75 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS was led in scoring by Halums (29) and Matthew Wilson (17) while Charles Botchway added 14 points. Lions' bench only contributed four points in tonight's game, while as a team UAFS scored 34 points in the paint. The Lions also distributed ten assists and were led by Botchway with seven assists. 

On the defensive end, Lions allowed their opponents to score 77 points while shooting 55.1 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 59.3 percent from the free throw line. The Lions forced ten turnovers and scored ten points off those while recording four steals. UAFS grabbed 31 rebounds as a team, and were led by Matthew Wilson with seven rebounds while Brian Halums, Evan Anderson, and Chris Rollins added five rebounds each. 

Lions have had a successful first season under head coach Jim Boone and with new recruits and returning player will be looking to build for the future.
