UAFS women's basketball team has concluded the final regular season conference road trip with a loss as the Lions fell to Cameron Aggies by the score of 88-102. UAFS was led by
Hannah Boyett who scored 24 points on 7-14 shooting from the field while also adding two steals. The Lady Lions are still fighting for good seeding in the final conference standing heading into the final week of regular season.
UAFS is now 12-14 overall in the season and 9-11 in conference play.
Offensively, the Lady Lions scored 88 points on 53 percent shooting from the field, 28.6 percent from downtown and 70.6 percent from the free throw line. The leading scorers for the Lady Lions were Boyett (24),
Leiloni Culley (15) and
Mar'Shalia Lollie (14). As a team the UAFS scored 44 points in the paint while the bench contributed 34 points for the game. The Lady Lions distributed 18 assists, led by
Alexsis Brown (10).
On the defensive end, UAFS allowed their opponent 102 points in the game on 66.1 percent shooting from the field. 50 percent from the three point line and 78.6 percent from the charity stripe. The Lady Lions recorded 21 rebounds and were led in that category by
Flaka Ortiz (5) while
Alexsis Brown and
Tamera Gulley added three rebounds each. UAFS forced 23 turnovers and scored 19 points off those while also recording 12 steals, led by Lollie (3).
UAFS women's basketball is returning home for a pair of final conference regular season games against UT Tyler on Thursday and A&M-Commerce on Saturday. The Saturday's game is also the senior night and the homecoming game for the Lady Lions as they continue their fight for the conference tournament placement.
