UAFS women's basketball team has opened its final road trip of the regular season with a loss as the Lady Lions fell to Midwestern State by the score of 70-75. UAFS was led by
Mar'Shalia Lollie with 16 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 8-14 from the field. The Lady Lions are now 12-13 overall on the season and 9-10 in conference play as they continue to pursue one of the top 8 spots which guarantees home-court advantage in the first round of the conference tournament.
Offensively, the Lady Lions scored 70 points while shooting 40.8 percent from the field, only 20 percent from the three point line and 47.4 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS was led in scoring by Lollie (16),
Hannah Boyett (15) and
Tamera Gulley (12) while as a team they scored 44 points in the paint and were helped with 17 points off the bench. The Lady Lions distributed 17 assists led by
Alexsis Brown with nine.
On the defensive end, the Lady Lions allowed 75 points while their opponent shot 40.4 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from downtown and 75 percent from the free throw line. UAFS recorded 41 rebounds (22-19) and were led by Lollie (15) and
Dachelle Terry (6). The Lady Lions forced 16 turnovers and scored 14 points off those while also recording seven steals, led by Boyett (3).
The final regular season road game for the UAFS women's basketball takes place on Saturday at 2 p.m. as the Lady Lions take on Cameron in Lawton, Okla.
