UAFS women's basketball team has lost a heartbreaker in the final seconds of their "Pink Out Game" as the Lady Lions fell to Angelo State Rambelles on Saturday afternoon in Gayle Kaundart Arena by the score of 72-73. This game featured four lead changes and the teams were tied up eight times throughout the game. The Lady Lions were led by
Ashanti Eden with 20 points while shooting 7-10 from the field while Leioloni Culley added 19 points and two rebounds.
UAFS is now 12-12 overall on the season and 9-9 in conference play heading into their final conference regular season road trip.
Offensively, the Lady Lions scored 72 points on 41.2 percent shooting from the field, 21.1 percent from the three point line and 80 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS was led in scoring by Eden (20), Culley (19) and
Hannah Boyett (10). The Lady Lions' bench contributed 43 points today while as a team UAFS scored 42 points in the paint. The Lady Lions distributed nine assists, led by
Alexsis Brown (4).
On the defensive side of things, UAFS allowed their opponent 73 points on 45.6 percent shooting from the field, 22.2 percent from downtown and 76 percent from the free throw line. The Lady Lions grabbed 29 rebounds (11-18), and were led by Mar'Sjalia Lollie (7) and
Tamera Gulley (6). UAFS forced 20 turnovers and scored 21 points off those while also recording 14 steals, led by Eden and Brown with three each.
UAFS women's basketball team will be back on the road next week as the Lady Lions make their final conference road trip looking to sweep the season series against Midwestern State and get a revenge against Cameron. Live stats and live video broadcast will be available for both of these games.
