Culley Leads The Lady Lions In An OT Win Over Eagles

UAFS women's basketball team has defended its home court in a big time fashion against Oklahoma Christian. The Lady Lions defeated the Eagles by the score of 91-89 and that way split the season series in pursuit of top 12 spots that qualify for the Lone Star Conference tournament.

This win is even more important considering that before this game Lady Lions were tied for the tenth place in conference standings with the Eagles. As a reminder, top four ranked teams get a by for the first game of the conference tournament, while the following four ranked teams get to host the first game of the tournament. The Lady Lions are now 10-10 overall on the season and 7-7 in conference play.

The Lady Lions were led by Leiloni Culley with 22 points on 7-12 shooting from the field and perfect 6-6 shooting from the free throw line. She also grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Lady Lions to this huge win.

Offensively, the Lady Lions scored 91 points while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from the three point line and 76.5 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS was led in scoring by Culley (22) and Mar'Shalia Lollie (17) while Hannah Boyett added 13 points. As a team the Lady Lions passed the ball well with 19 assists, led by Alexsis Brown with 10.

On the defensive end of things, the Lady Lions held the Eagles to 89 points on 50.9  percent shooting from the field, 40 percent from the three point line, and 75 percent from the free throw line. As a team, UAFS grabbed 39 rebounds and were led by Lollie (11) and Culley (7). The Lady Lions also forced 23 turnovers, and scored 16 points off those.
