UAFS Women's Basketball team continues to play on a high level as the Lady Lions defeated Texas Woman's by the score of 73-51 and extended their winning streak to three games after defeating St. Mary's and St. Edward's past weekend. The Lady Lions were led by
Hannah Boyett, with 14 points and five rebounds, to their fourth conference win, and are now 4-4 in conference and 7-7 overall on the season. This is the Lady Lions' first-ever win against Texas Woman's and the all-time series are now 3-1 in favor of the Pioneers.
Offensively, the Lady Lions scored 73 points on 39.7 percent shooting from the field, 31.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe. UAFS was led in scoring by Boyett (14) and
Alexsis Brown (11) while Tamer Gulley added 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Lady Lions also recorded 15 assists, led by
Alexsis Brown with five.
Defensively, the Lady Lions held Pioneers to 32.7 percent shooting from the field, 25 percent from the three point line and 60 percent from the free throw line. UAFS also grabbed 50 rebounds as a team, led by Gulleyy (11) and
Mar'Shalia Lollie (7). The Lady Lions forced 21 turnovers from their opponent and recorded 12 steals, led by
Dachelle Terry and Boyett with three each.
UAFS women's basketball team will continue their conference homestand as the Lady Lions take on Tarleton State at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gayle Kaundart Arena at Stubblefield Center. Live stats and live broadcast will be available for this game.
